Baku Replies to German Foreign Ministry

Turan: The call of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas for a ceasefire and his statement about putting pressure on Azerbaijan cause serious regret and surprise. This is stated in the commentary of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Calls for a unilateral ceasefire do not contribute to the final settlement of the conflict, but only serve to maintain the status quo, the Foreign Ministry said.
"One of the Bundestag members rightly said, addressing the German Foreign Minister: ‘A ceasefire is not a solution to the problem.’ It is necessary to exert pressure on the occupying country Armenia,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
The documents on the priorities of cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan confirmed the EU's support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. “It seems that Germany, the leading EU country, is not aware of this document.
The withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijani territories and the end of the occupation is a just demand of the Azerbaijani people. In the current conditions, we consider it unfair and erroneous to announce any pressure on Azerbaijan,” the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.
Baku called on Berlin to put pressure on Yerevan to ensure the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
