About us
This website has been established with the support of the
Caspian-Black Sea Studies Foundation (Sofia, Bulgaria) as a platform for
discussion and the constructive exchange of views on the most relevant trends
in the Black Sea, Caspian, and Caucasus regions. The Foundation serves as an
important venue for dialogue, expert discussions, and the exchange of ideas among
political scientists, diplomats, researchers, and representatives of civil
society.
The Board of Trustees of the Foundation includes leading Bulgarian
scholars and experts: Plamen Dimitrov Petrov — Doctor of Political Sciences; Nina Angelova Dyulgerova — Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor; Biser Todorov Banchev — Doctor of Historical
Sciences, Professor. Their academic and professional expertise forms the
intellectual foundation of the Foundation’s activities and ensures a high
standard of analytical work.
The platform focuses on the analysis of key regional trends,
including energy security, transport corridors, state resilience, as well as
issues of integration and foreign policy. Its priority areas also include:
1. promoting knowledge of
the geography and history of the countries of the Caspian-Black Sea region, as
well as their political life, geopolitics, economy, and culture;
2. explaining the prospects
for European integration of the countries of the Caspian-Black Sea region;
3. highlighting positive
examples of historical reconciliation among the peoples of the region.
Despite the fact that the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, and the
Caucasus have traditionally been arenas of geopolitical and geoeconomic
competition among major global and regional actors and their respective blocs,
there remains a lack of awareness of this region within the European academic
and expert community.
Our goal is to make an objective contribution to the high-quality
and unbiased coverage of events and trends in the Black Sea, Caspian, and
Caucasus regions, including the provision of in-depth expert analysis.
We are open to cooperation proposals from authors and
organizations.
Sincerely,
Dr. Plamen Petrov
