Aliyev: Azerbaijan-Armenia agreement signing will be guarantee of peace in entire South Caucasus

During his current visit to Georgia, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced his readiness to intensify the trilateral format of political consultations between Baku, Yerevan, and Tbilisi, reports Novosti Georgia.
"Today we also have the opportunity to hold consultations between Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia. If Armenia is ready, we will be ready to start that format today," Aliyev said at the news conference held after his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
Moreover, the president of Azerbaijan believes that the signing of the peace agreement between Baku and Yerevan is considered a guarantee of peace in the entire South Caucasus, as well as a window of new opportunities for cooperation.
"After the Karabakh war [in the fall of 2020], a new situation has been formed. We [i.e., Azerbaijan] believe that the signing of a peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia is necessary for the settlement of this conflict. We have already shared five main principles with Armenia, and we hope that Armenia will show political will, start peace negotiations, and sign a peace agreement with Azerbaijan," Aliyev said.
