Kazakhstan Strengthens Strategic Partnership with Georgia

President
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Georgia’s
Minister of Internal Affairs Gela Geladze
at the Akorda Presidential Palace, emphasizing the significant importance of
Georgian-Kazakh cooperation in the South Caucasus region and the prospects for expanding
bilateral cooperation in the field of security.
During the meeting, key issues were discussed related to
combating crime, strengthening the rule of law, and exchanging experience in
the fight against organized crime, drug-related crimes, and cybercrime.
President Tokayev noted that the historically established friendly relations
between the two countries have withstood the test of time and continue to
develop in the context of contemporary security challenges.
He also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of
foreign tourists, including citizens of Kazakhstan, in Georgia. On this matter,
both parties expressed mutual interest in further deepening cooperation. The
discussion also covered mechanisms for joint personnel training and the exchange
of best practices among law enforcement agencies.
The sides agreed to maintain regular dialogue and activate
inter-agency cooperation. At the conclusion of the meeting, President Tokayev
conveyed his greetings to the President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia in the field of security reflects a broader trend toward enhanced regional coordination amid global challenges, including the rise of transnational crime and cyber threats. The emphasis on safe tourism flows is also beneficial for both countries: Georgia aims to further develop its tourism sector, while Kazakhstan seeks to ensure the safety of its citizens abroad.
