Kremlin: Russia and U.S. not abandoning second Putin-Trump summit
The dates of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump in Budapest have yet to be finalized and time is needed to do this, Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
He stressed that nobody wants to waste time, neither President Trump nor President Putin. These are two presidents accustomed to working efficiently and productively. However, efficiency always demands thorough preparation.
"The dates have not been determined, it remains to be done, thorough preparations are required before that and it takes time," Peskov said.
He stressed that Russia's position on the Ukrainian settlement is well-known and has been repeatedly articulated.
The spokesman noted efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict have stalled, necessitating intervention from Russian and U.S. leaders, but careful planning is required.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said that in a recent phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, they reaffirmed their commitment to implement the agreements reached by Putin and Trump.
