Moscow will not delay opening of Zangezur corridor - Erdogan
Armenia should start steps to increase confidence in the region. The first important step in this direction may be the transfer of minefield maps to Azerbaijan, stated the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at a press conference on Thursday, commenting on the situation in the South Caucasus.
According to him, Moscow hardly intends to delay the issue of opening the Zangezur corridor. “Moscow also supports this idea, which will make a significant contribution to the development of the region. This corridor will serve the interests of both Armenia and Azerbaijan. Soon we will have a bilateral meeting with Putin,” Erdogan said.
Referring to the initiative to create a Six-Party Platform in the Caucasus, Erdogan noted that Tbilisi and Yerevan have not yet given a positive signal on this issue, while Russia is in favor of creating such a structure.
“If Armenia and Georgia join the initiative, stability will come to the region very quickly. During my visit to Turkey, I explained this issue to the Georgian Prime Minister,” Erdogan said.
