Azerbaijani oligarch Mubariz Mansimov detained in Istanbul

On Sunday morning, Mubariz Mansimov, one of the richest people in Turkey, the billionaire, the owner of the Palmali transport company, was detained in Istanbul, according to Turan, with reference to local media.
Mansimov, a native of Azerbaijan, is accused of involvement in the organization FETO - the organization of the religious preacher Fetull Gulen, whom the Turkish authorities accuse of trying to organize a military coup.
The detention was carried out by employees of the prosecutor's office for combating financial irregularities. According to the same source, Mansimov’s office was searched.
According to Turkish law enforcement sources, Mansimov is in one of the police stations and his official interrogation will take place on Monday morning. Then it will become known what exactly Mansimov is accused of.
In recent months, Mansimov has had a conflict with the state-owned company Socar of Azerbaijan. He also spoke out negatively about the political situation in Azerbaijan. After this, Mansimov began to lose his assets in Azerbaijan or voluntarily curtailed his business in his homeland.
Mubariz Kurban oglu Mansimov was born on March 22, 1968 in the city of Massalli, Azerbaijan. Turkish and Azerbaijani entrepreneur, founder and owner of the Palmali group of companies, a shipping company, as well as the president of the Khazar-Lenkoran football club.
Forbes magazine estimated Mubariz Mansimov’s fortune at $ 1.3 billion, placing him in 897th place in the ranking of world billionaires, and he also occupies 7th place in the list of billionaires in Turkey.
In 1994-1997 he was a co-owner of the agent company "Agent-34", since 1997 - president and sole owner of the Palmali group of companies.
Palmali owns 170 vessels, which are mainly engaged in the transportation of oil (105 million tons per year). The company is engaged in the transportation of Turkmen, Kazakh, Russian and Azerbaijani hydrocarbons to Western markets.
