There should be a checkpoint in Lachin, on the border with Armenia - I. Aliyev

The trilateral meeting was "quite constructive," Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliyev said to journalists on Saturday in Munich following trilateral talks with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
Among the issues discussed, he named the future peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the terms of this document.
“The agreement must be drawn up on the principles of international law, any mention of Karabakh in it is unacceptable.
Three days ago, we received a response from the Armenian side to our proposals for a peace agreement, and now they are being studied. At first glance, there is progress in the Armenian position, but it is not enough,” Aliyev said.
“In addition, the situation on the Lachin-Khankyandi road was touched upon. I stated that there could be no question of any blockade. Since December 12, more than 2,500 vehicles of peacekeepers and the Red Cross have passed along this road in both directions.
We demand an end to the illegal development of our mines, and until this happens, our activists will continue to fulfill their honorable mission,” Aliyev said.
“It would be good if the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides set up their own checkpoints. It should be in Lachin on the border with Armenia and on both sides of the Zangezur corridor. We spoke about the need for this before, but today I officially announced this at a meeting with the participation of Mr.Blinken, and we will wait for the official response from the Armenian side. This position of ours is perceived both in Europe and in America as logical,” Aliyev stressed.
