Biden thanks Erdogan for deal with Finland and Sweden

U.S. President Joe Biden thanked Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan for the deal with Finland and Sweden that paved the way for the two Scandinavian countries to become NATO members.
Biden, in a brief speech before their meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid, also thanked Erdogan for Ankara's efforts to help get grain out of Ukraine. Erdogan said he hoped diplomacy would help solve problems related to grain exports from Ukraine.“We are trying to solve the process with a balancing policy. Our hope is that this balance policy will lead to results and allow us possibility to get grain to countries that are facing shortages right now through a corridor as soon as possible.”
Erdogan noted that steps to strengthen NATO will also contribute to the Russia-Ukraine process.
“I want to particularly thank you for what you did putting together the situation with regard to Finland and Sweden, and all the incredible work you’re doing to try to get the grain out of Ukraine,” Biden told Erdoğan during a one-on-one meeting on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Madrid. “You’re doing a great job.”
