Ensuring security of Armenian residents of Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan is possible – US Ambassador

Washington believes that the rights and security of the Armenian residents of Karabakh can be ensured as part of Azerbaijan, US Ambassador to Yerevan Kristina Queen said in an interview with Armenian Public Television.
According to her, the United States has long stated that "the rights and security of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh must be protected, negotiations must take place, the results of which will protect the rights and security of the residents of the region." "Personally, I believe that people in Nagorno-Karabakh should feel safe in their own homes, in their own environment, be able to lead a peaceful family life and be involved in their communities. Therefore, the United States believes that these principles should be ensured within the framework of settlement negotiations," Armenia Today quotes the US Ambassador.
According to her, the parties must act together to ensure the protection of the rights and security of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh, and they "stressed the need for appropriate guarantees."
"It remains to find a way to this," Sputnik-Armenia quotes the words of the Queen.
When asked whether it is possible to organize a dialogue between Baku and Khankendi, the diplomat said that any discussion and negotiations are the right way to achieve a peaceful settlement.
Touching upon the Russia's role in the negotiations between Baku and Yerevan, the American diplomat called the Kremlin an "unreliable partner due to its aggressive actions in Ukraine."
Thus, it follows from the words of the US Ambassador that Washington believes that the issue of the rights of the Armenians of Karabakh should be resolved within Azerbaijan and they can be involved in governance at the level of local communities.
