Blinken expresses deep concern over situation at Armenia border with Azerbaijan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia had a telephone conversation, early Tuesday morning, with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, informs the press service of the Armenian government.
The Prime Minister presented details about the aggression launched by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia.
Pashinyan informed that in connection with the ongoing actions, a decision has been made to officially apply to the Russian Federation Council for the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, to the Collective Security Treaty Organization and to the UN Security Council. In this context, Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed hope for a proper reaction of the international community.
Antony Blinken expressed the deep concern of the American side regarding the created situation, and considered the further escalation of the situation inadmissible. He expressed the readiness of the US to make efforts to stabilize the situation.
Starting from 12:05am on Tuesday, the units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces started firing intensively—from artillery and large-caliber firearms—at Armenia’s positions toward Goris, Kapan, Sotk, Jermuk, Artanish, and Ishkhanasar. The adversary is using drones, too. As a result of this large-scale provocation by the Azerbaijani side, an intense shootout has begun. The adversary is attacking both military and civilian objects, and is carrying out positional advance operations in some directions. Positional battles are going on. The Ministry of Defense informs that the Armenian side has casualties and wounded; the data are being verified.
