Giorgi Gakharia: The second wave of the pandemic is starting

The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic is starting in Georgia, - Gakharia stated at the government session. According to the Prime Minister, nevertheless, there is no reason to panic and the epidemic situation is completely under control.
"Today's 57 cases and yesterday's 44 cases directly indicate that the epidemiological situation in the country is slowly changing. We expected the second wave to start in the fall and this process begins. The main thing is that there is no reason to panic because we are fully managing the process. As you know, from the very first day of the epidemic, the Georgian government has taken timely and rapid steps. One of the most important directions of these steps was to manage the risks of spreading the virus as well as to adapt the social, economic and even political life to the conditions of virus management. For example, in the first days of the epidemic, our healthcare system did 150 PCR tests per day, and today, the healthcare system can do an average of 6000-7000 tests, and soon it will be possible to do 10,000 tests", - stated Gakharia.
