Bulgarian Air Force School in Dolna Mitropolia reopens after 18 years of break

President Rumen Radev and Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov attended the inauguration ceremony of Georgi Benkovski Air Force School in the town of Dolna Metropolia (Central Bulgaria), BNR reports.
"It is a moral act to restore the proud Bulgarian aviation spirit and dignity, an act that we owed to our century-old aviation, to generations of instructors, pilots and specialists, to our teachers," said President Radev, who is a graduate of the same school. "Today, we are correcting an injustice," said Minister Karakachanov, and called the decision from 2002 to transform the school into a military faculty as short-sighted.
In addition to training in military and civilian specialties, the Air Force school will also have its sergeants college reopened.
The Air Force School reopens as an independent training institution after a break of 18 years. It is the only aviation school in Bulgaria as it offers training for both military and civil aviation specialists.
