Borissov to Aliyev: Bulgaria has always supported construction of Southern Gas Corridor
During the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Borissov noted that energy cooperation between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan has reached a strategic level. It was emphasized that a common priority for both countries was the diversification of sources and routes as well as ensuring the security of energy supplies to Europe.
Borissov also pointed out that Bulgaria has always supported the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor, an integral part of the project is the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector, through which Bulgaria will receive Azerbaijani natural gas. He also expressed optimism about the possibility of SOCAR, the state-owned oil company of Azerbaijan, to invest in gas distribution in Bulgaria, BNR reports.
