Truce Possible if Armenia Liberates Occupied Territories - I. Aliyev

Azerbaijan is observing the humanitarian truce announced today. However, if Armenia does not declare its readiness to withdraw its troops from the occupied territories and does not present a timetable for the withdrawal of its troops, as provided by the basic principles of the OSCE Minsk Group settlement, Azerbaijan will continue to liberate its lands. This is the main message of today's televised address by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Azerbaijan does not intend to continue the fruitless negotiations that have been going on for almost 30 years. Azerbaijan does not accept any pressure.
“For almost 30 years, the Minsk Group co-chairs have tried to reconcile Azerbaijan with the process of freezing the conflict. But we have created a new reality, and now let everyone come to terms with it.
As soon as we began to liberate our lands, pressure began to be put on us to stop the fighting. We are fed up with these negotiations. How long can you negotiate?
If you want a ceasefire, make the Armenians leave the occupied territories," Aliyev said.
In his words, the international mediators did not put pressure on Armenia, but on the contrary condoned its occupation policy and this despite the UN Security Council resolutions. “Now that Azerbaijan alone implements the UN Security Council resolutions all the efforts of the Minsk Group are aimed at rescuing Armenia - the aggressor, invader, perpetrator of the Khojaly genocide, the country bombarding the civilian population of Ganja," the President of Azerbaijan said.
“After negotiations in the US, a decision was made to hold a meeting in Geneva between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia. I am not against it, let them meet. So many pointless meetings have already been held in these 28 years that one more meeting, or one less meeting - there is no difference. But we want it to make sense, and these negotiations should speed up the resolution of the conflict,” Aliyev said.
“Patrons of Armenia, I appeal to you. If you want to save this fake country, tell them to get out of our lands. One word of yours is enough for them to leave,” Aliyev said.
Instead, we see regular arms deliveries to Armenia. Mediators wishing to establish peace should not behave like that, Aliyev said. He also noted that he does not disclose all the details yet, but the time will come and he will name those who illegally supply weapons to Armenia.
