Georgian Minister of Defense Meets with Azerbaijani Officials in Baku
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Georgia Today reports. The two sides discussed strategic cooperation and joint military projects, the Georgian Defense Ministry press office details.
“Garibashvili thanked Azerbaijan for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and stated that the relationship between the two countries is based on trust and strategic cooperation,” the press office statement reads.
After meeting with President Aliyev, Garibashvili attended an official welcoming ceremony by General Zakir Hasanov, in which they placed flowers on the fallen soldiers’ graves. During his two-day visit in Azerbaijan, the Defense Minister and the high-officials from the Azerbaijani side conferred on the three-way party military exercises comprising Turkey.
