Georgia to ban all foreign passengers to enter country

Georgia will ban all foreign passengers from crossing the state border for two weeks as of March 18, 00:00 in a bid to halt the spread of novel coronavirus.
According to Interpressnews, as Prime Minister's Spokesman Irakli Chikovani stated at a briefing at the Government Administration on Monday, Georgian citizens who wish to return home will be have the opportunity to use the flight operated by Georgian Airlines.
Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani explains that the Georgian travel ban will not apply to the representatives of the diplomatic missions and international organizations as well as to those families, where one of the spouses or a minor child is the citizen of Georgia.
“Any foreign citizen is prohibited to enter Georgia. There will, of course, be some exceptions. The ban will not apply to diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia and to members of the International Organization and their families as well as to those families, where one of the spouses or a minor child is a citizen of Georgia. At the same time, the representatives of the humanitarian missions, if the need for such a mission emerges - doctors, volunteers, as well as those with a status-neutral document and the people with refugee status in Georgia. Of course, the issue of official delegations will be resolved individually for each case, ”Zalkaliani said.
