Zelenskyy says he would reconsider refusal of Ukraine from nuclear weapons
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Saturday during the Munich Security Conference that he would initiate negotiations between the participants in the Budapest Memorandum on Security, Ukrinform writes.
“I am initiating consultations within the framework of the Budapest Memorandum. It was entrusted to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to convene them. If they do not take place again or if there are no security guarantees for our country as a result of them, Ukraine will have every right to believe that the Budapest Memorandum does not work, and all package decisions of 1994 will be called into question,” he noted.
The package decisions of 1994 also assumed the non-nuclear status of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy also added that during his speech at the conference that he invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet.
