Armenia, Iran security councils’ heads meet in Yerevan

YEREVAN. – Secretary Armen Grigoryan of the Security Council of Armenia on Thursday met with Secretary Ali Shamkhani of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, who is visiting Armenia, the Security Council secretary's office informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The heads of the security councils of Armenia and Iran emphasized the trend of sustainable development of multi-sectoral cooperation between the two countries, and, in that context, stressed the importance of bilateral economic cooperation and the need for its further development.
Grigoryan presented the process of normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, and noted that no issue in the corridor logic is discussed in that process. Shamkhani, in turn, stated that the principles of territorial integrity and inviolability of borders of countries should be respected in the context of the abovementioned.
Also, the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia presented the latter's outlook on ensuring regional security and unblocking, within the framework of which, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran emphasized Tehran's readiness to contribute to maintaining the security of the South Caucasus.
The parties agreed to meet next at the Armenia-Iran border in order to continue their dialogue.
