Shamkhani: Iran opposes any steps that lead to change in region's geopolitics

Iran opposes any steps that lead to a change in the geopolitics of the region, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), told reporters on his arrival in Yerevan, Mehr reports.
He noted that the policy of the Iranian administration is focused on expanding and strengthening relations with neighbors, and this is the main purpose of his visit to Armenia.
Shamkhani noted the need to establish peace and stability in the region through regional cooperation and said that Iran supports such formats as "3 + 3", which includes Turkey, Iran, Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia.
Shamkhani expressed hope that the talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan would lead to a lasting peace within the framework of maintaining the territorial integrity of both countries. He noted at the same time that Iran is against any actions that lead to changes in the geopolitics of the region, he added.
