Ukraine's infrastructure minister elaborates on possible resumption of passenger transportation

Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister Vladyslav Kriklii says the relaunch of urban and intercity public passenger transport mat take place on May 12.
"This all applies to bus and rail transportation. But much depends on what indicators for the spread of the coronavirus we'll be seeing by May 12. We further plan [resumption of] air transportation services. Of course, we can only talk about domestic aviation. The only thing that air carriers don't have is a traffic volume outlook: reopening a flight destination to carry a dozen passengers would be unprofitable. It's more profitable to stay grounded," he said.
Kriklii suggested that certain restrictions and measures would "surely remain": face masks, temperature screening, and a limited number of passengers.
"Otherwise, we will have a hyperbolic increase in incidence. We are preparing proposals on the quarantine exit algorithm, we will finalize everything next week. Most importantly, we will need a green light from the Ministry of Health – they play the 'first violin'," the minister added.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Friday, April 24, announced five stages for the gradual withdrawal from the national quarantine regime.
