The death toll from the catastrophic earthquake in Turkey and Syria has risen to more than 15,000 people, as new bodies are being recovered from the rubble of destroyed houses in the affected area, the Turkish disaster management agency said on Thursday.
The agency reported that 12,391 people were confirmed killed in Turkey as a result of an earthquake early on Monday morning and a series of aftershocks that destroyed thousands of buildings in southeastern Turkey.
It is reported that another 2,902 people were killed on the other side of the border in Syria.
