White House On Prigozhin Crash: ''No One Should Be Surprised'

The White House said on Wednesday that it has no confirmation “at this time” about the killing of Yevgeny Prigozhin, however, the apparent death of the man behind a failed uprising against the Kremlin exactly two months ago is 'anything but surprising,' as President Joe Biden put it, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
“You may recall, when I was asked about this by you, I said I’d be careful what I rode in,” Biden told reporters Wednesday afternoon. “I don’t know for a fact what happened but I’m not surprised.”
Asked if he thought Vladimir Putin was behind the plane crash, Biden said: “There’s not much that happens in Russia that Putin's not behind. But I don’t know enough to know the answer. I’ve been working out for the last hour and a half.”
Russian news sources reported on Wednesday that air defenses downed a private jet with Wagner mercenary group boss, along with 9 others, aboard. The news remains unconfirmed by independent outlets.
"We have seen the reports... The disastrous war in Ukraine led to a private army marching on Moscow, and now — it would seem — to this," the U.S. National Security Council said in a statement.
