US State Department to Zakharova: Turbulence in South Caucasus is fueled by Russia's actions in recent months

Matthew Miller, Spokesperson of the US Department of State, commented on the concerns of Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), regarding the April 5 meeting in Brussels slated between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
"Some of the turbulence we have seen in the [South Caucasus] region has been fueled by Russia’s actions over the past few months. With respect to this meeting in Brussels, as I said yesterday, it is to focus on economic resilience for Armenia as it works to diversify its trade partnerships and address humanitarian needs, and nothing else," Miller said at Thursday’s State Department press briefing.
Russian MFA spox Zakharova had stated that such meetings cause concern for most countries of the region because they are not actually aimed at establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
