Iran warns: possible U.S. military strike could trigger regional war

Iran’s
Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali
Khamenei, has warned that any direct military action by the
United States against Tehran could provoke a full-scale regional conflict in
the Middle East. He emphasized that Iran does not seek war but is prepared to
deliver a “decisive response” if attacked.
This rhetoric reflects growing tensions between Iran and
the United States, driven by multiple factors, including ongoing discussions
over Tehran’s nuclear program, the buildup of U.S. military forces in the
region, and Iran’s response to domestic protests and international pressure.
In his remarks, Khamenei stated: “Americans should know that if they start a war, this time it will be a regional war”.
The
warning is primarily aimed at demonstrating Tehran’s resolve to defend its
territory and interests, as well as deterring potential external intervention.
Experts note that such statements do not occur in isolation. Tensions between Iran and Washington have escalated amid reports of potential U.S. strike operations, increased U.S. naval presence in the Persian Gulf, and discussions of a substantial response to Iranian actions. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts by regional partners continue. Representatives from Persian Gulf countries and Turkiye are seeking ways to de-escalate the crisis, emphasizing that the Middle East does not need another large-scale military conflict.
