The US and Iran Continue Negotiations on a Possible Agreement and Extension of the Ceasefire

Washington and Tehran continue intensive diplomatic consultations on the de-escalation of the conflict and the possible conclusion of a new agreement.

According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the parties are making “moderate progress”, and “good news” regarding further developments in the negotiation process may emerge in the coming days.

Diplomatic sources report that, with the mediation of several regional states, the United States and Iran are close to reaching an agreement on extending the ceasefire for another 60 days. At the same time, the sides are discussing the framework for future negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, which remains one of the key issues in relations between the two countries.

According to mediators, the parties are considering the possibility of gradually reducing tensions in exchange for limited mutual concessions. In particular, discussions are focused on mechanisms for monitoring compliance with the agreements, humanitarian issues, and the prospects for partial sanctions relief.

Experts note that the current dialogue represents one of the most significant diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran in recent years. Despite the continuing distrust, both sides are demonstrating an interest in preventing further escalation in the Middle East. Against this background, international observers are closely monitoring the progress of the negotiations, as their outcome could significantly affect both regional security and global energy markets.
