Two opposition activists arrested in Azerbaijan
Member of the Khazar district branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA) Avaz Ahmedov was arrested in administrative order for 20 days on April 22. On the same day, an activist of the Surakhani branch of the PFPA Arif Babayev received 30 days of arrest, Turan reports.
Ahmedov was found guilty under Art. 510.1 (petty hooliganism), and Babayev - under Art. 388-1.1-ci (placing information prohibited for the distribution on an Internet resource, as well as not preventing the publication of such information) of the Code of Administrative Offenses, PFPA reported.
Both activists were detained by people in plain clothes. The party noted that in recent days more than 10 activists have been arrested and regarded this as reprisal against PFPA.
