Russia MFA calls on Armenia, Azerbaijan to refrain from dangerous rhetori

We call on Baku and Yerevan regularly. But now after your remark, it seems to me, unofficially as well, that it is necessary to refrain from rhetoric because the other party may perceive it as disrespect for its territorial integrity, as a threat against its country, as a power scenario for solving controversial issues. Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), stated this at Wednesday’s press briefing.
This is how Zakharova commented on a reporter's question regarding the recent statement by the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, according to which he told the residents of his country about the upcoming return of "Western Azerbaijan," which means the entire territory of Armenia.
"The topic of refugees and temporarily displaced people, as you well know, is topical for both sides. And with that in mind, we think it would be useful for both Baku and Yerevan to intensify the dialogue on the whole range of humanitarian issues, including the preservation of monuments of cultural, historical and religious heritage, ensuring safe and free access, citizens on a reciprocal basis in terms of searches for cemeteries and missing persons during military operations. Again, there is a great demand among people on both sides for this very approach. If there is a need to engage Russia in it, the Russian side is ready for it," the Russian MFA spokesperson concluded.
