Israel agrees to ceasefire with Hezbollah

The Israeli Cabinet of Ministers has approved the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon, reports The Jerusalem Post.
The ceasefire will take effect on Wednesday at 10am local time (12pm Armenia time).
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the duration of the ceasefire will depend on Hezbollah's actions, and warned that any violation will lead to strikes by the Israeli army.
Netanyahu said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had already inflicted considerable damage on Hezbollah. Among the successes, he noted the killing of the leader of the group, Hassan Nasrallah, as well as the destruction of Hezbollah infrastructure and weapons.
The terms of the ceasefire agreement stipulate the withdrawal of Israeli troops from southern Lebanon and the deployment of the Lebanese army there, Reuters reports. Also, Lebanon shall end its armed presence along the southern border of the Litani River.
Lebanese foreign minister Abdallah Bou Habib said 5,000 Lebanese soldiers will be sent to the south of the country and the US could help rebuild infrastructure damaged during the fighting.
Netanyahu explained the need for this ceasefire as focusing on countering the Iranian threat, restoring the Israeli military arsenal, and isolating Hamas.
