Pashinyan explains why government applies for EU membership, but at the same time attends parades in Russia

We do not set the task of worsening relations in any direction. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a joint press conference with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal on April 28, responding to a journalist's remark that the Armenian government is applying for EU membership but at the same time participating in parades in Moscow.
"Our approach is the following: to use our sovereignty to deepen relations in all those areas where we want to have deeper relations, where relations are not deep enough. Armenia-EU relations are exactly like that. Of course, there may be situations when there will be certain tension between our foreign relations in different directions, but we represent the management of this situation by our transparency and honesty towards all our partners, so that there are no dark corners in terms of our policy," Pashinyan said.
When asked by a journalist why peace with Azerbaijan is not achieved, the Armenian Prime Minister said, "Our government is working on this issue on a daily basis and we are determined to contribute to its solution. We will continue to follow this strategy until we reach our goal of signing a peace agreement. We will not turn from this path".
