Georgia Expresses Support for Trump's Fight Against the "Deep State"

Georgian Prime
Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, during a government meeting on January 20, 2025,
expressed his support for U.S. President Donald Trump in his fight against the
so-called "Deep State." He emphasized that Trump’s success in this
area would be crucial for the normalization of Georgian-American relations.
Kobakhidze stated
that Georgia is ready to reset relations with the United States and start from
a "clean slate," expressing hope for significant progress in this
direction in 2025.
Representatives of
the ruling Georgian Dream party have repeatedly voiced hope that Donald Trump,
who has criticized the so-called Deep State in the U.S., would reverse the
trend of interference by the American "deep state" in Georgia’s
internal affairs.
Guram Macharashvili,
a member of the "People’s Power" party, also expressed hope that
Trump’s battle against the Deep State would succeed and have a direct impact on
Georgia.
Meanwhile, Mamuka
Mdinaradze, executive secretary of Georgian Dream, referred to evidence of a
so-called "global party of war" following a confrontation between
Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, reaffirming support for Trump
in his fight against both the Deep State and pro-war policies.
Thus, Georgian
authorities view Trump’s administration as an opportunity to strengthen
national sovereignty and stabilize domestic politics.
However, it is worth
noting that the term "Deep State" is often associated with conspiracy
theories and lacks a universally accepted definition in political science. Its
usage may provoke criticism from the international community and affect
Georgia’s image as a democratic state.
Overall, Georgia's
support for Trump's battle against the "Deep State" reflects the
government's desire to strengthen ties with the United States and seek new
avenues of international cooperation.
