Ukrainian General Staff: Russia Lost 29 Aircraft in One Day, Fighting Continues Along the Entire Front Line

On June 4, 2025, the General
Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported record losses in Russian
aviation. According to the official briefing, the Russian army lost 29
aircraft in the past 24 hours — one of the most significant
aviation losses during the full-scale war.
The
statement does not specify where the incidents primarily took place, but notes
that air
battles and strikes on airfields occurred in the eastern and
southern regions. It also states that Ukrainian air defense systems and strike
drones were actively used in night operations, enabling Ukraine
to inflict “substantial damage” on Russian military infrastructure.
Combat
continues along the entire front line, from Kharkiv
region to the Zaporizhzhia direction. Both sides are engaged in
attacks using artillery, drones, precision weapons, and electronic warfare
systems. Russia, in turn, claims to have destroyed several Ukrainian command
posts and ammunition depots, though these reports have not been independently
verified.
If the
loss of 29 Russian aircraft is confirmed, it would mark an unprecedented
event in the modern history of aerial warfare. The scale of
these losses could indicate either the successful deployment of new
Ukrainian air defense systems, or serious tactical
errors in Russia’s air operations.
This development may increase pressure on the Russian military leadership and impact troop morale. However, despite the effectiveness of such strikes, they do not signal an imminent end to the conflict. The fighting remains intense, and a diplomatic resolution still appears distant.
