Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Expresses Solidarity with Ukraine on Anniversary of War

The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, issued a statement marking the fourth anniversary of the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, expressing support for the Ukrainian people and emphasizing the need to achieve peace.
According to the Speaker, Georgia stands in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and wishes them “resilience and the swift restoration of peace”. Papuashvili noted that the ongoing conflict has a serious impact on security and stability in the region, including the countries of the South Caucasus.
At the same time, the head of parliament stated that, in his view, there are forces that “benefit from the continuation of the war”. He did not specify which actors he was referring to, but stressed that prolonging the conflict does not serve the interests of the region’s peoples and hinders sustainable development.
The statement came amid international events marking the anniversary of the outbreak of hostilities and discussions on further steps to support Ukraine at the European level. Georgia has repeatedly reaffirmed its support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, while also calling for a peaceful resolution of the conflict through diplomatic means.
