The United States Did Not Confirm an Alleged Ukrainian Attack on Putin’s Residence

U.S. President Donald Trump
has stated that American intelligence agencies have found no evidence
confirming an alleged Ukrainian attack on the residence of Russian President
Vladimir Putin, thereby refuting Moscow’s claims of a drone strike.
Speaking
to reporters aboard Air Force One while traveling from Florida to Washington,
Trump emphasized that he personally does not believe such an attack on Putin’s
residence actually took place.
“I don’t believe this strike happened. Something may have occurred nearby, but it has nothing to do with this”, Trump said.
Earlier, Russian officials
claimed that Ukraine had allegedly attempted to attack Putin’s residence in
Russia’s Novgorod region using 91 drones. Moscow described the incident as a serious act
of escalation and warned that it could reconsider its position in negotiations
with the United States on ending the war in Ukraine.
Ukraine,
however, firmly rejected these accusations, calling them “fake information aimed at
disrupting diplomatic efforts and justifying further escalation”.
According
to U.S. intelligence assessments, there is no confirmation of a deliberate Ukrainian attack
on Putin’s residence. Sources indicate that the intended target of the drones may
have been entirely different, such as a military facility in the same region.
Following
Trump’s statement, other Western officials also expressed doubts about the
credibility of Russia’s version of events. Analysts note that the lack of
visual evidence, independent verification, and concrete data underscores the
opacity of Moscow’s claims.

It is
noteworthy that the incident occurred amid intensified diplomatic efforts to
end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Recent talks between Trump and
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reportedly focused on a multi-point
peace plan, which U.S. officials said had made “significant progress”. At the
same time, Moscow signaled it might revise its negotiating stance with
Washington following reports of the alleged attack.
Military and political experts emphasize that accusations made without transparent evidence can serve as a tool of information pressure in the context of prolonged warfare and diplomatic maneuvering, as well as a means to justify further escalation on the battlefield.
