Medvedev: issue of Karabakh settlement should be discussed with Turkey

Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev commented on the issue of resolving the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the status of the region.
The conflict in the region intensified at the end of September, a trilateral ceasefire agreement between Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia was reached on the night of November 10.
Commenting on Turkey’s role in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Medvedev noted that Ankara is a very important partner of Russia, is very close to Azerbaijan, and that "this factor cannot be ignored."
"We have a productive dialogue [with Turkey], our president constantly communicates with [Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan] on this issue," he said.
Medvedev reminded that previously, "a decision was made to establish a special control center for situation monitoring, which involves both Russian and Turkish officials," adding that "this is one more element of general stabilization."
"But I would refrain from treating it as an element of some long-term policy or build a conspiracy theory here. We were simply obliged to take the realities in our region into account. And the reality is that this issue must be discussed with the Turkish partners," Medvedev said.
