Situation on the border of Lachin and Syunik is unchanged
The situation in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border remains unresolved, on the evening of May 16, the units of Azerbaijan army are still there. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia has reported on Sunday.
According to the same source, "last night the Azerbaijani side tried to carry out rear operations, which were suppressed."
Thus, negotiations between the military of Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by the commander of the Russian peacekeepers, Rustam Muradov, did not yield any results.
Recall that the Armenian side reported on May 12 that the 240-250 Azerbaijani soldiers advanced 3.5 km. to Syunik region. In the next two days, Armenian side announced that Azerbaijani militants have moved into Armenian territory in two other directions in Gegharkunik region.
In turn, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that the Azerbaijani Armed Forces are on their territory and the process of border demarcation is underway.
Note that in these areas, the military of the two countries are practically face to face.
