Russia’s exercises in the Mediterranean begin with the participation of fighters capable of carrying hypersonic missiles
The Russian Navy and the country’s Aerospace Forces began joint exercises in the Mediterranean Sea on Friday, the Russian Defense Ministry has announced.
MiG-31K fighters, arriving in Syria for the first time, are capable of carrying hypersonic missiles Kinzhal (‘dagger’, in Russian), which can reach speeds of Mach 10, carrying nuclear warheads and outperforming all existing air defense and missile systems.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, during the exercises it is planned to test the aircraft and equipment in different climatic conditions, characterized by high temperatures.
